Study Group Urges State To Change Tax Policy

A Study Group is urging Louisiana Lawmakers to completely overhaul the State's tax policies. According to them, the recommendations  would lower tax rates, broaden where taxes are charged and lessen the state's system of complicated tax breaks.

Among the many proposals put forth by the group, they suggest ending the recently implemented 1% sales tax hike. And to make up for that lost revenue, they suggest raising sales taxes on services like cable television and business utilities. They claim these changes would stabilize the State's finances.
