After a night of severe storms, several schools are accessing the damage and trying to get important information to parents ASAP.

According to KSLA News 12 officials with The Caddo Parish School Board have announced that 2 schools will be closed due to the storms. Turner Elementary and Turner Middle School along with Huntington High School in west Shreveport will be closed today (Monday, October 21st.) Captain Shreve High School will also be closed.

The closings are due to a power outage. KLSA 12 received an email from Caddo Schools Spokeswoman Mary Nash Wood explaining that SWEPCO is trying to get the power back up and running on both campuses. KSLA reports that School officials are hoping classes return back to normal on Tuesday, October 22nd.

It's not just Shreveport/Bossier assessing the damage, Carthage was hit pretty hard due to the storms. Carthage ISD took to their Facebook saying that the high school would be starting later than usual at 10:00 a.m. because it had no power. “All campuses except HS will start at the normal time. High School has no power and will have 2-hour delay. If [your] child is at school at 8, HS will provide supervision.”
