The closer we get to the end of the year, the closer we get to WrestleMania season. Not only is Mania one of the biggest events of the year in sports (it actually beats out the World Series, College Football playoffs and several other major events worldwide), but it also happens to be the weekend WWE honors the legends of the past.

Despite the criticism that the WWE Hall of Fame isn't a real Hall of Fame because it doesn't have a physical location, many in the wrestling community hold being inducted as one of the highest honors one can receive. Current members include legends like Ric Flair, Roddy Piper, Iron Sheik and many others. And, out of the pro wrestlers not currently in the HOF, 'Dr. Death' Steve Williams and Vader are two that need to be in immediately.

For those that don't know, Dr. Death was a long time resident of Shreveport/Bossier. He lived in our community, ran a gym and was an all around good guy. Oh, and he happened to be one of the best old school wrestlers to ever lace up a pair of boots.

Many will point to Williams' accomplishments in Japan (much like WWE Hall of Famer Stan Hanson) as reason enough to get a spot in the Hall. But he is so much more than that. He is a former NWA Champion, UWF Champion, multiple time tag champion in several organizations including WCW and has 3 5 Star Matches under his belt.

But, probably the most important reason Steve Williams should be inducted is because he was a world class worker. It may not seem like much to someone that doesn't know professional wrestling, but the entire business is built on respect. For performers to put on a top notch match, each has to have trust and respect for each other and Steve Williams was one of the most highly respected wrestlers in the business.
