The Arna Bontemps Foundation, Inc. has partnered with the Rose of Sharon Baptist Church featuring the Dillard University Concert Choir for this year’s Spring Concert.  The thriving and rich musical heritage of Dillard University in New Orleans, Louisiana, continues to enhance the cultural lives on their campus, in the community and around the country.  Professor S. Carver Davenport is in his 37th year as director of University Choirs.  This Spring, the choir’s repertoire includes classical works from the Masters such as, Come Sweet Death by J. S. Bach (with choreography), Randall Thompson’s Alleluia, (performed by the Ladies of the choir), as well as popular and folk songs.  The Dillard Choir has established a rich tradition of performing selections by Moses G. Hogan during their concert season. Professor Hogan, choral arranger, concert pianist, composer, was on the faculty at Dillard University for 13 years and passed away in Feb. 2003.  Hogan’s arrangements of We Shall Walk Through the Valley in Peace, My Soul’s Been Anchored In the Lord and others will be performed.

This event is free and open to the public and sponsored by the Alexandria/Pineville Area Conventions & Visitors Bureau.
