Shreveport Police union head Sgt. Michael carter talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about the recent changes at the SPD, specifically the replacement of Chief Alan Crump with now "substitute chief" Ben Raymond.

Carter tells KEEL listeners that the department "needs direction. We need to get focused on crime. We need to get focused on public safety. I know that there's a mayor's race going on but that needs to be the farthest thing from a police officer's mind."

And Carter's criticism of Mayor Ollie Tyler continues: "Stop using the police department as a political tool. Get focused on crime, let us do our job, give us the resources to do our job."
