Southern Politeness in Louisiana

You will also hear folks talk with a politeness that you just don’t hear in many parts of the country. We say "ma'am" and "sir" out of respect. And let’s not forget the very common "bless your heart". This has a slew of meanings ranging from “you’re not the brightest bulb” to “I really feel sorry for you.” I bet I hear this Southern phrase at least once a day.

Southern Fun and Heat

Southern Living says some of the things we do for fun in the south are legendary. Our tailgating parties are second to none. You will see all kinds of gourmet foods being cooked outside of Tiger Stadium on a Saturday afternoon. No one does tailgating better than LSU fans.

And the heat. We know it’s going to be hot in the summer in Louisiana. Now, we still whine about it, but we know how to deal with it. Louisiana residents have found several ways to keep cool during the scorching summer day.

Of course we have a southern accent. We talk slower and there is a southern drawl. You don't notice it as much if you grew up here. But it's a real thing.
