Shreveport firefighters spent a large part of their afternoon battling a house fire in deep south Shreveport.  When they arrived in the 800 block of Flournoy Lucas Road just before 4 o'clock, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the carport and roof of a house.  The occupant, fortunately, had escaped the flames and was outside when they got there.  It took 7 units, 20 firefighters, and more than 30 minutes to bring the fire under control.  One firefighter suffered a dislocated finger while performing a tactical operation.

Investigators have determined that the fie started in a Jeep parked in the carport but the exact cause is still under investigation.  Damage from the fire has been estimated at more than $40,000.
