Snapchat can now determine someones emotions through facial recognition in selfies and messages they share. According to Business Insider, Snapchat has just been granted a patent for "Determining the mood for a group" today. The patent application was first filled back in April of 2015.

From what I understand, they can compare different people's emotions at a specific location allowing them to determine the vibe of a crowd at certain events. Business Insider assumes that they can then sell this information to event coordinators and organizers to make a profit.

I don't know how I feel about this. Well for starters it is a reminder that nothing is private anymore. Second, they are going to make so much money from this. This gives event organizers a chance to find out what makes people happier at their events so that they can change and alter things for future events to please more people. I wonder what else Snapchat has up their sleeve.
