Smash Mouth is Coming to Natchitoches in May
Natchitoches just became an All Star.
The Natchitoches Times is reporting that the band Smash Mouth will be headlining the 23rd Annual Natchitoches Jazz/R&B Festival. The even takes place in Downtown Natchitoches on May 10th and 11th, with Smash Mouth performing on Saturday, May 11th.
When the Natchitoches Times caught up with Festival Chairman Rodney Harrington, he told them:
"the motto for this year’s event could be 'Hits Through the Decades' or 'Something for Everyone."
Other acts set to perform that weekend include a Journey cover band called Resurrection, the former lead singer of the band Bad Company, Brian Howe, as well as Cupid and the Dance Party Express Show, Keith Frank and the Soileau Zydeco Band, John Papa Gros; and Johnny Earthquake and the Moondogs, and a hair metal tribute band called LA ROXX.
Smash Mouth had massive hits in the late 90s and early 2000s with songs like "All Star", "I'm a Believer", "Then The Morning Comes", "Can't Get Enough of You Baby", and "Walking on the Sun".
Recently the band has found new life, thanks to online memes. Internet communities have used the song "All Star" as a frequent foil in their jokes. The spread of these memes have introduced a new generation to the band and their music.
The band also created a massive following due to the use of their music in the Shrek movie franchise.
