Quiet Streets and Deep Roots: Exploring the 30 Smallest Towns in Louisiana
The numbers from the 2020 census data shows population numbers are dipping across the state. Major cities like Shreveport and New Orleans have seen folks leaving, but the decline is equally pronounced in the state's smallest villages. Several small communities have fewer than 200 residents. This includes Bienville and Edgefield.

As the oldest settlement in the Louisiana Purchase, Natchitoches is one of the most charming towns in the state. It has such beauty and I love front street which includes brick pavement. And the views along the Cane River are pretty amazing. And of course Natchitoches is famous for its meat pies and the huge Christmas festival.

South Louisiana Has Some Tiny Villages
Several small communities in Acadiana make the list of the smallest towns in the state. Breaux Bridge does not make this list, but it is another charming city right near the Atchafalaya Basin. This town is known as the Crawfish Capital of the World, If you want to experience the Cajun Culture, Breaux Bridge should be on your list.

What's It Like to Live in a Small Louisiana Town

All of the folks in these towns know each other and because of southern hospitality, they are always willing to help each other. But living out in a rural area does have some challenges. Privacy would be at the top of the list, but next on that list would be distance to city amenities like shopping and restaurants.
