The 2021 Mardi Gras season will be like nothing we've seen in our lifetime. The COVID-19 pandemic, and mainly the restrictions that surround it, will be preventing a lot of the normal celebrations.

In the New Orleans area, they worked together to create something special, and have a city full of "House Floats" and drive-by parades. Ideas that had been pitched around the Shreveport and Bossier City area, but ideas that all fell on deaf ears locally.

So with no balls, no parades, and no parties...what will people be doing in Shreveport for Mardi Gras? Maybe going to a hockey game.

The Shreveport Mudbugs have been able to keep their season rolling this year, sticking to all of the COVID-19 guidelines, and keeping a "thumbs up" from the State Fire Marshall's Office with their protocols. They've provided a massive boost to the Shreveport community during these tough times, and now they're going to do it once more.

Later this month, the Shreveport Mudbugs will host two nights of hockey for Mardi Gras Weekend. Making the two night event the biggest Mardi Gras celebration in Shreveport for 2021.

Over the last few years, the Mudbugs Mardi Gras celebrations have featured Grand Marshals like NFL star Tre'Davious White, as well as specialty jerseys, and mini-Mardi Gras parades. This year will likely not feature as many components due to COVID restrictions and limited capacity, but the games will feature Mardi Gras celebrations at the Hirsch, and if you're looking for some Mardi Gras flavor this year, you should be there.
