Shreveport Toddler Wounded in Accidental Shooting
Shreveport Police detectives are investigating the accidental shooting that left a toddler wounded.
Just before 2:30 p.m. officers were called to Willis Knighton South where they learned about a shooting at a home in the 600 block of Pickwick Place. As officers arrived at the hospital, information was gathered suggesting the one year old child was accidentally shot by another juvenile below the age of ten, who was present inside the residence.
Detectives with the Shreveport Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit arrived at the scene and immediately began their inquiry into the incident. Based on additional information acquired, it appears the one year old suffered a gunshot wound to the head after being shot by the other juvenile. Both children were present at the home with adults at the time of the incident. As the investigation continues, authorities are working to determine how the child managed to access the gun. The condition of the one year old was last reported as stable.
