We are just a few weeks away from Thanksgiving and I’m already thinking about that table full of some of my favorite dishes. As one of 6 children, I can still see my Mom working all morning getting this big spread ready for the feast.

Of course we had a turkey, but we would also have a pork roast as a main dish option. We would have so many side dishes. The oyster dressing is probably my favorite. I don’t know why we had this only for holiday dinners. It was so good.
But Mom also prepared string bean casseroles, mashed potatoes, homemade cranberry sauce and so much more. We also had a good choice of desserts. Pecan pie was the favorite in my family.
When Is Thanksgiving in 2025
Thanksgiving falls on Nov. 27 this year. It’s a time to enjoy family time and great food. Many people are already asking me what restaurants will be open on Thanksgiving. If you want to enjoy the Thanksgiving bounty without doing all the work, you have several options in Shreveport-Bossier.

How Many Shreveport-Bossier Restaurants Offer Thanksgiving Meals?
Plenty of northwest Louisiana restaurants are offering special Thanksgiving menus and buffets where you can get your holiday feast with all the trimmings including the great desserts. Some restaurants are offering special menus and specific seating times for the holiday.
To get a seat at most of these spots, you do need to reserve a table ahead of time. Lots of folks like to dine out on Thanksgiving, rather than do all that cooking. Now is a good time to get that reservation made.
