Shreveport Man Tased and Arrested for Resisting Officers
Earlier this month, Shreveport Police were patrolling the Highland area when they saw a suspicious man on Centenary Boulevard.
SPD tried to contact Tyrese Priest after they saw him leaving from behind a house. Priest immediately got combative with the Police and punched one Officer in the face. One Officer deployed a taser to try and get Priest under control, but the taser didn't work at first. Priest continued to fight with Officers.
Thankfully an additional Officer got to the scene, and was able to successfully use their taser to get Priest to comply. The Officers were able to get Priest under control, and he was taken in to custody.
Priest was treated on the scene by Shreveport Fire Department for injuries he sustained during the arrest. A search of his person revealed that Priest had drug paraphernalia consistent with meth use, and meth itself. Priest was also found to have a warrant for his arrest for resisting an Officer.
He now faces two counts of resisting an officer with forced violence, two counts of battery of an officer, and possession of narcotics.
From SPD:
"These officers demonstrated proactive policing and professionalism in a rapidly escalating situation. We are grateful that no one was seriously injured. Incidents like this highlight the unpredictable nature of law enforcement and the importance of staying vigilant."
