Shreveport Homeowner Shoots at Burglar Who Was Later Arrested

At approximately 5 a.m. on June 14, officers responded to a call from the 7200 block of West Canal Blvd regarding an attempted burglary. The homeowner reported discovering a male suspect in her backyard attempting to steal lawn equipment.

The homeowner confronted the suspect, who refused to comply with her commands to stop. In an attempt to deter the suspect, the homeowner discharged a firearm in his direction, causing the suspect to flee the scene.

Officers conducted a search of the area and subsequently located the suspect hiding at a house adjacent to the victim's home. The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Joshua Dotson, was found to have not sustained any injuries from the gunfire.

Dotson has been arrested and charged with one count of simple burglary. As simple burglary is not classified as a violent crime, Dotson’s booking photograph is not available for public dissemination.
