Shreveport Shooting Suspect Arrested
Shreveport police officers were called to a shooting in the 2700 block of Parkridge Steet on January 28th at 8:14PM. As officers arrived, they found a six-year-old child suffering from a gunshot wound to the wrist. Officers determined that the child was struck by gunfire while riding inside of the vehicle with the child’s father.
Shreveport Police Violent Crime investigators arrested Cavisia Goode for his suspected involvement in the January 28th, 2023, shooting that injured a six-year-old child.
Detectives with the Shreveport Police Violent Crimes Unit were called to the scene where detectives conducted an investigation. With the assistance of the Shreveport Police Crime Scene Unit, Detectives were able to determine that the victim has been shot by a firearm from within the vehicle. Casvisia Goode was subsequently charged with one count Second Degree Cruelty to a Juvenile and booked into the Shreveport City Jail.
The child is expected to recover. According to Statista.com, between 37%-47% of homes in the United States have at least one gun. Despite continuing educational efforts, many of these guns are kept loaded, unlocked, and potentially accessible to children. The Shreveport Police Department wants to continue to urge those with firearms to make sure they store them responsibly. It may save a life of a loved.
