Shreveport Police Arrest Man for Road Rage With a Fake Gun
On Sunday evening, Shreveport Police were called to Wilkinson Street and Centenary Boulevard about a man pointing a gun at people.
The victims told SPD that they were driving down Youree Drive when a white Ford F-150 started following them while flashing their lights and driving aggressively. The victims went on to tell SPD, that as the truck was passing them, a white male passenger pointed what appeared to be a rifle at them.
A description of the truck was given to Police, and responding Officers were able to locate and stop the suspected truck. SPD arrested Aaron Heins for one count of aggravated assault.
Police investigated further and found out that the gun that was used in the road rage incident was an airsoft rifle. A plastic gun that shoots small plastic projectiles. But, according to Louisiana law, assault is defined as the intentional placing of another person in reasonable fear of receiving a battery.
The airsoft rifle was considered realistic-looking enough, that the fear he instilled in the victims was enough to warrant criminal charges.
From SPD:
"The Shreveport Police Department remains committed to protecting our citizens and responding swiftly to incidents that threaten public safety."
