Shreveport Restaurant Is Torn Down to Make Way for Coffee Spot
Friday was a sad day on my drive home. I noticed the wrecking ball has started work at the Tacomania restaurant on Kings Highway.
We learned earlier this year the restaurant would be closing. But to see the smashed building makes it so real.
The owners of Tacomania decided to call it quits. They put the property up for sale two years ago. Recently, corporate America came calling. Starbucks snapped up the site and they will be building a brand-new operation at that location. It will be a full-service Starbucks with a drive-through window.
The 5,248 square foot restaurant comes with a very large parking lot that is very deep and will easily work for this new coffee spot. This will be the fourth stand-alone Starbucks in Shreveport.
Tacomania shut down on April 23rd. Over the past few weeks they have been selling off the tables, chairs, kitchenware, planters, tvs and much more.
Now, everything is gone and the building has been torn down. I will probably do a double-take every time I pass by that location over the next few weeks. I’ve had some fun nights at this spot.
What Food from Tacomania Will We Miss
This is one of the spots where I tried a variety of items because it was all so good. The homemade tamales were exceptional. I also loved the puffy tacos with shredded chicken. The brisket quesadilla has always been a favorite. Maria and Tony made Tacomania one of my favorite spots for a night out with friends. The Mango Margarita has always been one of my favorite adult beverages. I also loved the salsa bar with several great choices of homemade salsas.
I will miss Tacomania. Not sure I will be a regular at Starbucks. I do use the app, but I find it really difficult to pay such high prices for coffee. I'm such a cheapskate.
