SHREVEPORT, LA-   Man Arrested After Striking Woman with Handgun

On May 20th, around 4 a.m., Shreveport Police officers responded to a report of a disorderly person at 5300 Fairfax Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered a female victim involved in a domestic incident.

The suspect, identified as 41-year-old Derrick Banks, was arrested at the scene. Banks faces charges of one count of aggravated assault on a dating partner and one count of battery of a dating partner with serious bodily injuries. He is accused of striking the victim in the head multiple times with a handgun.

The victim sustained serious injuries but is expected to recover.

Suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
