SHREVEPORT, LA-   Shreveport Police Department to Conduct Safety Checkpoint

The Shreveport Police Department will be conducting a Seatbelt Checkpoint on August 13, 2024, beginning at 2:00 p.m. and concluding at 8:00 p.m. The checkpoint will be centrally located within the city to ensure maximum coverage and accessibility.

The primary focus of this checkpoint is to identify and address drivers who are not in compliance with Louisiana's occupant protection laws. However, enforcement will not be limited to seatbelt violations alone; officers will be vigilant in detecting and addressing other potential traffic infractions.

The checkpoint will be conducted following the guidelines outlined in the Louisiana State Police Roadside Safety Checkpoint Manual.

This operation is funded by the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission's highway safety grant, which supports efforts to improve road safety across the state.
