SHREVEPORT, LA-    Shreveport Police arrest convicted felon during traveling domestic dispute

On October 12th, 2023, around 2:204 p.m. Shreveport Police Patrol officers were notified of a 911 call coming from what was believed to be a moving vehicle. Dispatchers informed officers of an open line in which they could hear a man and woman yelling. The Dispatchers were able to note that the male was making threats to harm the women and was reportedly armed with a firearm.

With the assistance of Shreveport Police Dispatchers, officers located the vehicle in the 2600 block of Bert Kouns Industrial Loop. Upon initial investigation, officers found that the male suspect, Tariq Phillips (5-21-02), was attacking a female in the presence of two small children. Officers attempted to detain the Phillips and seized a handgun believed used in the assault. Officers determined Phillips was prohibited from possessing a firearm due to being a convicted felon for prior felony offenses.

Phillips was arrested on one count of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, three counts of Domestic Abuse Battery with Child endangerment, one count of Domestic Abuse Aggravated Assault, and three counts of 2nd-degree Kidnapping.

Victims were not seriously injured.

We are required to advise that all suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
