A Shreveport Police officer has been arrested by Bossier Police on domestic abuse charges.

Gary Thomas was arrested overnight after officers responded to a domestic violence call at his home on Northgate Drive in Bossier City. Shreveport Chief Alan Crump has placed Thomas on leave following the arrest.

Thomas is charged with domestic abuse battery, false imprisonment for injuring his wife and refusing to let her leave the home. Thomas' wife refused emergency medical treatment.

Thomas was hired by SPD in February of 2010, Here is part of the news release from Chief Crump's office:

The rules and regulations of the Shreveport Fire and Police Municipal Civil Service Board mandate that, “When an employee is charged with a felony he shall, and if a misdemeanor he may, be immediately relieved of duty and placed on "departmental leave" for up to one week at full pay and with continuing seniority.”
