What are America's "safest" cities? And how do you define safe? Is it more than just the avoidance of crime and violence? What about the threat of natural disaster, i.e., tornadoes, hurricanes and earthquakes? Add poverty, in the form of financial safety, to the list?

Well, those are the questions asked - and answered - by personal finance website WalletHub in their list of 2020's Safest Cities in America.

WalletHub determined where Americans are able to feel most protected against life’s hazards, including nonphysical forms of danger. They compared more than 180 U.S. cities across 42 key metrics. The data set ranges from COVID-19 cases in the past seven days per 100,000 residents and assaults per capita to the unemployment rate and even road quality.

WalletHub major metrics include Home and Community Safety, Natural Disaster Risk and Financial Safety and in all three Louisiana's major cities, Shreveport, New Orleans and Baton Rouge fail to make the top 100...and by a very wide margin.

Shreveport was found to be the 156th safest city in the USA, finishing 154 out of 182 in home and community safety, 100 in threat of natural disaster and 170 in financial security.
