After a break in home games for the Holidays, the Shreveport Mudbugs will be back in action this weekend.

Last month's opening weekend and the following weekend provided some much-needed action and excitement to Shreveport Mudbugs fans. After not having hockey for most of 2020, the Shreveport Mudbugs returned in mid-December for four games and they did not disappoint. They won 3 out of 4 games, winning all three in overtime and losing one game in a shootout.

The crowd brought their A-game as well. Naturally, crowds won't be all the ay back to normal any time soon, but the 1,550 that were allowed into George's Pond helped to provide a truly electric atmosphere.

The boys haven't played on home ice in nearly month, but the month of January is shaping up to be hockey-filled to say the least. This month, the Mudbugs will play seven home games, the first of which take place this weekend.

This weekend also brings back a wonderful Mudbugs tradition, Cancer Awareness Weekend, where fans are invited to write the name of a loved one who has battled cancer on the ice. Those names will remain on the ice all weekend.

If you're reading this before 7:00 PM on Wednesday, January 6th, you're in luck. If you'd like to draw your loved one's name on the ice for this weekend, you can do so today, January 6th, from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at George's Pond.
