Shreveport Police Crack Down on Crime at Krewe of Centaur Parade
SHREVEPORT, LA – Shreveport police were out in force during the Krewe of Centaur Parade on Saturday. Local police teamed up with several other agencies to handle security all along the parade route from downtown all the way to the duck pond on East Kings Highway.
Police used several hard barricades—including garbage trucks, camera trailers and parade fencing to handle the crowds. Police also used drones, and other advanced technology to keep things safe along the route.
What Crimes Did Officers Work to Stop at the Krewe of Centaur Parade?
One of the top priorities for SPD was to keep our kids safe by addressing underage drinking. This has become a problem in past years. Things tend to get a bit out of control when the crowd gets too unruly. There were many reports of folks throwing beads back at the float riders again this year, but no one was seriously hurt.
How Many Tickets Were Given During the Parade?
Shreveport Police Vice Agents cited more than 40 people for underage drinking. But the biggest concern was that the officers found several of these young people were packing guns.
Who Was Arrested During the Krewe of Centaur Parade?

Kaden Lee, was arrested after police responded to a fight. The officers found a gun in his waistband. He's charged with simple battery, resisting an officer with force or violence, negligent carrying of a handgun, and interfering with a law enforcement investigation.
Caleb Mitchell was arrested for negligent carrying of a handgun after reportedly trying to pull out the gun during the parade, but he dropped the gun on the ground.
Ashley Lowry faces a charge of simple battery and public intoxication after officers were called in to break up a fight.

Police remind residents that drinking too much alcohol can lead to serious problems. Adding guns to the mix can be deadly. But thanks to the quick action of officers, these potential threats were spotted before things could escalate.
SPD will be back on the parade route this Saturday for the Krewe of Gemini and at the Highland parade on Sunday.
