[UPDATE]  A man sought by authorities in connection with a double homicide in Dallas, Texas, is now in police custody following a standoff in west Shreveport Tuesday evening.

Just before 5:30 last night, officers with the Shreveport Police Department’s Patrol division, along with agents from the Caddo-Shreveport Special Response Team, Shreveport Police Crisis Negotiators and deputies from the U.S.s Marshal’s Office Violent Offenders Task Force arrived at a home in the 3000 block of Drexel Street. Through continued investigation, authorities were able to track double-murder suspect Patrick Russell to the home. Russell barricade himself inside, and initially refused to come out.

Following a number of unsuccessful attempts to encourage Russell to exit the residence, Caddo-Shreveport Special Response Team members and Shreveport Police Crisis negotiators were called out to assist.  Nearby residents were asked to remain inside their homes while a small few were temporarily relocated for safety reasons.

The efforts of law enforcement personnel proved successful following the nearly four-hour ordeal, since Russell emerged from the residence just after 8:30 p.m. and surrendered to authorities without further incident.

Russell, who was booked into the Caddo Parish Correctional Center on the outstanding warrant through Texas, faces additional felony charges in Caddo Parish stemming from an unrelated incident. It is unknown when Russell will return to Texas to face murder charges; however, bond has been set at $1-million. There were no injuries reported and residents were allowed to return to their homes shortly after the incident concluded.
