The Shreveport Police Department has arrested a man following an investigation into a reported sexual assault that happened earlier this month.

Detectives with the Shreveport Police Department’s Sex Crimes Unit were notified by responding SPD Officers regarding a victim who reported being sexually assaulted. When SPD got to the scene, the suspect had already fled.

The victim was taken to a local hospital, where Detectives, a victim advocate, and a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner responded to assist with the investigation and provide support.

During interviews with investigators, the victim disclosed details of the assault. Crime Scene Investigators also responded to process the scene and collect evidence related to the case.

As the investigation continued, uniformed patrol officers located 56-year-old Jimmy Parks and taken him to the Sex Crimes Unit for questioning. Based on the evidence gathered during the investigation, Parks was arrested and charged with:

One count of Second-Degree Rape

Parks was booked into the Shreveport City Jail.

From SPD:

"The Shreveport Police Department remains committed to thoroughly investigating sexual assault cases and ensuring victims receive the support and resources they need throughout the investigative process."
