Shreveport Man Arrested After Running From and Fighting Police

SHREVEPORT, LA-  Shreveport police officers got involved in a foot chase and fight after an attempted traffic stop.  On June 23rd, 2023, around 4:14 p.m. officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a white Hyundai Elantra at Interstate 49 and Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard. The vehicle refused to stop, and a pursuit ensued.

After a brief pursuit, the vehicle abruptly stopped, and the driver fled on foot into a wooded area. When the officers reached the suspect after the foot pursuit,  the driver then struggled with police before being taken into custody. The driver was identified as James Lewis (5-6-57).

Lewis was arrested and charged with Aggravated Flight from an Officer, One count of reckless operation of a vehicle, and one count of resisting with force or violence.

No injuries were reported. We are required to remind you that suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
