Shreveport Little Leaguers Honor Maggie Lee Henson Through Huge Clothing Donation Drive
Hundreds of little leaguers have been participating in a massive clothes donation drive this week. And it'll be topped off by Duck Dynasty's own Sadie Robertson, who will throw out a pitch at Shreveport Little League ballfield at 8 Saturday morning.
The Maggie Lee for Good Invitational was the brainchild of SLL President Trey Simmons. He wanted to honor the memory of Maggie Lee, whose death in 2009 sparked the world-wide movement of kindness every October 29th -- what would be Maggie's birthday -- which is known as Maggie Lee for Good Day. The movement was so widespread, it led Mayor Cedric Glover to officially declare October 29th as Maggie Lee for Good Day in 2011.
Maggie Lee's Closet will benefit from the clothing donations. It's a free children's boutique in the Highland Center, where kids can pick out uniforms, socks, undies and an outfit three times a year. Moonbot Studios even partnered with the boutique to paint a background mural.
