
Shreveport Police Intercept Juvenile Trafficking Operation: One Woman in Custody
Shreveport Police patrol officers halted a potential trafficking operation this past weekend after spotting suspicious activity that led to the rescue of a 15-year-old girl.
On Saturday, February 28, 2026, officers apprehended Monique Smith, who is accused of transporting the minor across state lines for the purpose of sexual exploitation.
Investigation Reveals Multi-State Exploitation Plot
The encounter began as a routine patrol observation but quickly escalated when officers discovered Smith had traveled from Longview, Texas, to Shreveport with the teenager. Vice Agents were immediately called to the scene to conduct an in-depth investigation.

Detectives uncovered that both Smith and the juvenile were active on a known escort website. According to police reports, Smith eventually admitted to harboring the girl and actively encouraging her to engage in acts of prostitution.
Suspect Booked as Victim Returns to Safety
The 15-year-old was safely recovered by authorities and has since been returned to the care of a concerned adult. Smith, meanwhile, faces a charge of Trafficking of Children for Sexual Purposes.
Smith is currently being held at the Caddo Correctional Center with her bond set at $500,000. The Shreveport Police Department underscored its commitment to dismantling trafficking rings, stating that those who exploit children for profit will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
