Shreveport Police has arrested another armed convicted felon from the streets during a domestic disturbance call.

Late last week, SPD Officers responded to East 81st Street in reference to a disorderly person in a domestic situation. When SPD got to the scene, they found the victim arguing with her boyfriend, Ricky Jackson.

Officers attempted to separate the two, when they found that Jackson was armed with a gun. Jackson immediately ran from Police. During the pursuit, Officers saw a magazine from the firearm fall from Jackson’s person. He was taken into custody at A.B. Palmer Park.

A background check showed that Jackson was prohibited from possessing a gun due to his violent criminal history.

In 2008, Jackson was charged with three counts of armed robbery with a firearm and later pleaded guilty to one count.

In 2022, after serving time for armed robbery, Jackson was arrested again for aggravated assault with a firearm and later pleaded guilty to illegal use of a weapon.

In this most recent incident Jackson has been charged with felon in possession of a firearm, resisting an officer by force or violence, and possession of Schedule II narcotics. He was also found to have several outstanding warrants.

From SPD:

"This is another great example of Shreveport Police patrol officers stepping into a dangerous and unpredictable situation and taking another armed felon off the streets."
