Shreveport Firefighters Respond to Summer Grove Baptist Church

SFD and Signal 51 responded to the 8900 block of Jewella - site of the previous South Park Mall and now home to Summer Grove Baptist Church.

A fire was reported in an interior room and upon arrival, first-in company, Engine 15, was directed to the area where the fire was located. Upon entering the room, crews were confronted with heavy smoke and high heat. The sprinkler system had activated aiding in the ability to bring the fire under control quickly. The next task was evacuating the smoke from the large space.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation. NEXT, Signal 51 left that scent to respond with SFD to the 3800 block of Conway street in Shreveport’s Queensboro neighborhood.

Engine 7 was first in on a reported house fire and arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the attic of a small home. Crews quickly accessed the fire in the walls and the attic and brought the fire under control within minutes.

No injuries were reported and the fire is under investigation. As on the fire on Jewella, Signal 51 was on hand to assist with Firefighter rehab.
