Shreveport Firefighters Battle Two-Story House Fire
On Saturday, December 30, 2023, at 5:03 PM, the Shreveport Fire Department (SFD) received a 911 call reporting a house on fire in the 11000 block of Belle Rose Circle in the Southern Trace community. The first SFD unit arrived on scene within six minutes and reported smoke and flames visible from a two-story residential structure.
Firefighters began to extinguish the flames from the interior but had to transition to an exterior defensive strategy, including deployment of a platform ladder truck, as the structural components weakened and collapsed. Subsequently the structure suffered heavy fire damage.
Fortunately, no injuries to citizens or firefighters were reported. It took the efforts of twenty-eight SFD firefighters operating thirteen units to bring the fire under control at 6:25 PM. Assisting the SFD via automatic mutual aid were two units from Caddo Parish Fire District 5.
The official cause of the fire and full extent of the damage remains under investigation. To view fire safety tips, including those for fireworks and the winter season, visit www.shreveportfire.org.
