
Shreveport Police Make Arrest in Easter Murder Case
Through the efforts of Shreveport Police Homicide Detectives, an arrest has been made in this senseless act of violence.
Detectives with SPD identified and arrested Valentino L. Carter Jr., who has been charged with one count of Second Degree Murder. Carter was taken into custody and transported to the Shreveport City Jail without incident.
On Easter evening, Officers with the Shreveport Police Department originally responded to a loitering complaint on West 70th Street.
While on scene, Officers heard several gunshots coming from a nearby parking lot. Officers found a 25-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to Ochsner LSU Health with life-threatening injuries.
Detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit immediately launched an extensive investigation, conducting numerous interviews and reviewing evidence, including video footage from the scene.
This marked the fifth homicide in the City of Shreveport in 2026.
