Shreveport Man Arrested Following Drunk Driving Accident
On August 18, at approximately 1:10 a.m., Shreveport Police officers were dispatched to the 5200 block of Bert Kouns Industrial Loop in response to a major accident. Upon arrival, officers found a 2017 Mercedes with significant damage, with the driver still inside the vehicle. The driver, later identified as 48-year-old Leon Chambers, was taken into custody after officers suspected he was impaired.
The other vehicle involved, a 2014 Honda Accord, had two occupants. Both were transported to a local area hospital with injuries. Thankfully, the victims are expected to recover.
DWI investigators were called to the scene, and Chambers was subsequently arrested on charges of one count of DWI, one count of reckless operation, and two counts of vehicular negligent injury.
This accident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of drinking and driving. The Shreveport Police Department urges everyone to make responsible choices and avoid driving under the influence.
