Last week, Shreveport Police responded to a call of an armed person in the 2100 block of Carver Place.

What they walked into was a dangerous domestic violence situation that could have turned deadly.

SPD Investigators found that the suspect had sent the victim a text message stating she was going to kill him when she got to his house. She was armed with a knife and attempted to stab the victim once she got in to his house.

The victim was armed with a gun, but in a moment that likely saved lives, witnesses said he put the gun down, said “I do not want to have to shoot you,” and ran away from the scene.

Officers arrested Kendricka Jackson, who now faces multiple serious charges, including:

• Home Invasion

• Simple Burglary

• Domestic Abuse Aggravated Assault

• Domestic Abuse Battery with a Weapon

• Domestic Abuse with Child Endangerment

From SPD:

"Domestic violence calls are among the most dangerous situations officers respond to. Too often, these incidents end in serious injury or loss of life. This case is a sobering reminder of how quickly things can escalate—and how close this came to becoming a tragedy.

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, please seek help. You are not alone, and help is available."
