Shreveport Police Combat Domestic Violence With Five Arrests
Over the weekend, Shreveport Police were busy confronting one of the biggest growing crimes in our community, domestic violence. Many of those arrested were repeat offenders.
On August 15th, officers arrested 49 year-old Heath Dempsey for domestic abuse battery. This was not Dempsey's first time being arrested for this crime. It was his fourth time being arrested on domestic violence-related charges.
On August 16th, SPD were able to arrest two men for domestic charges. 22 year-old Marion Jones was arrested for simple battery of a dating partner.
Where in a more serious case, 39 year-old Jarvis Stills was taken into custody. Stills faces charges of domestic abuse battery by strangulation, domestic abuse battery with child endangerment, and violating a protective order against the victim.
On August 17th, SPD arrested 47 year-old Angela Kain for domestic abuse battery. This was her second arrest involving domestic violence.
On August 18th, SPD arrested 24 year-old Braylon Franklin for domestic abuse battery with child endangerment. Franklin's fifth arrest connected to domestic violence.
From SPD:
"These cases are a stark reminder that domestic violence continues to affect too many lives in Shreveport. While the police department will continue to hold offenders accountable and work to slow the spread of violence, lasting change begins at home.
If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, please reach out to the Shreveport Police Department or your local law enforcement agency. Help is available, and no one has to face abuse alone."
