But we really should pause to remember what Christmas is all about. The message often gets bogged down in all the hustle and bustle of getting just the right gifts, going to all the parties and trying to make things perfect.

My advice would be to take a minute or two each day and close your eyes and remember why we celebrate Christmas. Take a deep breath during this quiet time and think about the birth of Christ and the meaning of this season. If you try to do this each day between now and December 25, the day will probably have much more meaning for you.

For me, it's those little things that matter. Etched in my memory are the times I took my boys ice skating in Marshall or driving around to see Christmas lights. By the way, whatever happened to Santa Claus arriving by plane on Benton Road? Who knows the story behind that one?
