Shreveport Carjacking Suspect Caught on Fairfield Avenue
SHREVEPORT, LA - This is not something you would expect to happen on a Friday morning in Shreveport, but I guess with some criminals, you never know.
Shreveport police responded the the 1800 block of Fairfield Avenue just after 9am on Friday on a reported carjacking complaint.
That's when this tale takes a bizarre twist. Police learned the suspect, 46-year-old Robert Gilleard first attempted to get into one car but was not successful. Just a few moments later, he ran up to another car and jumped in, but he was confronted by the driver, who quickly jumped out of her car.

The officers who responded to the scene were able to quickly make the arrest and take Gilleard into custody.
He did suffer some injuries during the incident and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Gilleard is now facing two counts of carjacking and one count of theft.
Detectives are still working to piece together the exact circumstances surrounding the incident. Additional updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
Anyone who might have some information about this crime are urged to contact the Shreveport Police Department at 318-673-7300 or Caddo Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373.
Neither of the drivers of the cars were hurt during this incident.
