But there is one thing that has been fading from the food world in Shreveport and Bossier City. But we are not alone. Since the COVID pandemic, fewer and fewer restaurants now offer all you eat buffets. This was one of the first things to shut down during the height of the health crisis. We were very concerned about people serving their own food from buffet lines.

Many of the big casinos pulled the plug on buffets and they have not returned in several of these spots.

I recently asked my friends about favorite buffets in the area and I was surprised to learn there are not that many still operating. And the ones that do have a buffet still up and going only do it for certain hours at lunch or on special nights.

Why Have Buffets Disappeared?

One of the other big reasons the buffets are going away is the cost. Prices for everything restaurants buy have spiked over the past two years and this drives up the prices to put out a big spread for diners. Of course, the price to dine at a buffet have gone up, too. It's really tough to offer all you can eat for under $20.
