Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator says he is very disappointed with the decision by the Caddo Parish Commission not to approve a proclamation declaring January 9 as "National Law Enforcement Day" in Caddo Parish. He did not even realize Commissioner Mario Chavez was going to present the proclamation to his colleagues.

But once the group voted it down 6-5 along party lines, the Sheriff says his deputies began calling to ask why the Commission would turn down this measure. He says that is the wrong message to send to law enforcement officers right now.
