Louisiana State Troopers are still searching for a vehicle involved in the May 26th fatal hit in run in St. Helena Parish that killed a two-year-old girl and injured three others. Trooper Will Huggins said a family of four was outside of their vehicle on LA Highway 1045 near LA Highway 43 due to a previous car accident.

“Unfortunately a two-year-old girl died due to injuries sustained in that crash and so we’re currently searching for that suspect vehicle,” Huggins said.

Physical evidence left at the scene is still being processed by State Troopers. Huggins said the vehicle has been described by witnesses as a light-colored van or SUV.

“And likely has or had damage to the front ends and driver side mirror,” Huggins said.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Louisiana State Police Troop L or online anonymously at la-safe.org by clicking the suspicious activity link. Huggins said Tangipahoa crime stoppers are also seeking tips.

“Or you can do it online at www.tangicrimestoppers.com and you may be eligible for a cash reward of up to a thousand dollars,” Huggins said.

The victim was laid to rest on Friday at St. Mary’s Missionary Baptist Church.
