The search is back underway on the Red River just north of the runway at the downtown airport for a plane that lost contact with the tower. The pilot apparently reported engine trouble before he turned the plane around and headed back for the airport.

Sheriff Steve Prator discussed the recovery effort that will be happening today.

The Bossier Sheriff's office along with State Police and fire departments from both cities have been helping with the effort.  The sheriff says it was too dangerous for divers to go into the water last night.  But a barge is headed to the area and divers will attempt to recover the plane today.

He says there was a pilot and one passenger on the plane, but no names have been release.

Bossier and Caddo Sheriff's Office Marine Patrol units searched the Red River, along with other land and aerial assets searching the area. A Bossier Sheriff's Office Marine Patrol unit, using electronic equipment this afternoon, found what they believe could potentially be the aircraft fuselage in the water.

Federal authorities are also expected to be on the scene this morning.
