Arctic Cold in North Louisiana: School Closures & Updates
SHREVEPORT, LA - The arctic blast has arrived and it's bringing very cold weather. We also had some light rain across north Louisiana overnight. This has caused concerns about road conditions. But the Shreveport-Bossier metro area does not have icing conditions on the roads.
But some rural areas might see some icy conditions. As a result of this, some schools are closed on Wednesday.
Here's the latest list of schools that will be closed:
Claiborne Parish (will have virtual learning)
Webster Parish
Minden Montessori
Glenbrook School
Caddo and Bossier Parishes will have school today.
Much of the rain has moved out of northwest Louisiana but it is very cold. To the east and north of Shreveport-Bossier the rain is causing some ice problems for places like Magnolia, Hot Springs and Little Rock.
How Cold Will it Be in Shreveport Wednesday Night?
The Weather Channel says temperatures will be dropping again tonight and it will be even colder with dangerous temps as we could see the teens with wind chills even colder than that. The temp in Shreveport on Wednesday night is expected to drop to 18 and the wind chill will be about 5 degrees.
Local shelters are filling up and they will be sending out street teams to try to get homeless people off of the streets and into places where they can stay out of the dangerous cold.
