Rain Should Move Out Before Patty in the Plaza
If today's rain has you worried about heading to Festival Plaza for our big St. Patrick's Day celebration this evening, fear not!
Fox 33 Meteorologist Todd Warren told me this storm system should be out of here by the time Patty in the Plaza rolls around at 5 p.m.
"Most of it should be gone, can't totally, obviously, guarantee - given especially the last 12 hours or so, but the big stuff will be definitely to the south of us," Warren said. "It looks like an 80% chance the rain should be pretty much done by 5."
Warren said what Patty-goers do need to be prepared for it to be a little brisk this evening.
"I would take a good jacket. We've seen temperatures drop into the 50's and 60's behind these thunderstorms, and don't anticipate much of a warm-up," he said. "I would take a decent jacket and maybe an umbrella, just to be on the safe side, even though you may not need it."
I did mention to Mr. Warren that I took a look at the forecast yesterday, and saw no rain in it for today. So...where did this all come from? He said all the models last night were hinting at some rain, basically south of here.
"But obviously the stuff fired up north of Dallas and the trajectory sent it into our area this morning and this afternoon. But it looks like this evening, the main focus has shifted further to the south where it's a bit warmer...so down towards Natchitoches, Many, that's where the threat will be."
He said the rain should pretty much be done by 3:30 or 3:45. So, party-goers....Patty in the Plaza is ON! Come out and join us this evening for all the St. Pat's Day fun!
