People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, otherwise known as PETA, has an interesting history when it comes to Shreveport, LA. It seems like every year they bring one of their controversial campaigns to town. And every year something crazy seems to happen.

They've been countered protested - I even seem to remember a local radio station hosting a counter-protest BBQ (one of the participants may have had the same name as me, weird). They've been arrested. They've been heckled. They've faced a WIDE range of responses. But, I guess they must be getting the kind of response they want on some level because they keep coming back.

This year, they'll be coming to Shreveport April 13th, 2024.

What is PETA's Hell on Wheels Tour?

I was a huge fan of the show 'Hell on Wheels'. So, when I got an email that said Hell on Wheels tour coming to Shreveport, LA it got my attention. However, this PETA protest has nothing to do with the hit TV show.

According to the press email, the protest will feature a "life-size, hyper realistic chicken transport truck covered with images of real chickens on their way to slaughter." The display will also feature real bird cries and subliminal messages to suggest people go vegan.

Where Will PETA's Protest Take Place in Shreveport, LA?

The Hell on Wheels protest is scheduled to take place at noon Saturday April 13th outside of Another Broken Egg Cafe. According to PETA's statement, their protest "is an appeal to anyone who eats chicken to remember that the meat and egg industries are cruel to birds and hazardous to human health and the only kind meal is a vegan one.”

I love Another Broken Egg. The Huevos Rancheros are awesome. I eat there pretty regularly. But this weekend, unless you want to take in a spectacle, it may be best to opt for a different dining experience.
