This is a good news, bad news story. First the bad news. The Bar Chord on Youree near Southfield in Shreveport is closing after this weekend. But the good news is that it looks like the location will be the new home for Pepito's Grill and Cantina.

No official announcement from Pepito yet, but there are lots of reports that he will soon be back in the kitchen preparing some of those great dishes you have grown to love. Pepito left his job at Superior Bar and Grill to open his first restaurant on Fern Avenue last year, but his investors decided not to renew the lease at the location earlier this year.

Here is the statement the management team issued:

“Like so many other establishments in the restaurant industry during the COVID-19 pandemic, we at Pepito’s saw the effects of the pandemic directly on our business – an uncertain business environment, increased costs, and increasing inflation that were making the business impossible to continue running,"

At the time, Pepito Munoz issued a statement saying this was not the end for him:
"This is not the end .. Just the beginning and always BELIEVE! Love and Light “.

A statement has also been issued this week by the Bar Chord owners:

The bar has been sold and our last night open will be this Saturday, February 19th. There’s a lot I’m going to miss in that tiny room but most of all I’m going to miss all your beautiful faces packing the joint every weekend.  In case the rumors haven’t reached you yet, we’re not just closing the bar and restaurant next door, we’ve actually sold those spaces and I expect them to do great things with what’s next. I can’t say here now who is involved in this endeavor but I can tell you he’s one of the kindest, friendliest, hardest working people in the business. I’m over the moon that I get to pass the torch to someone as amazing as him. There’s literally no one more deserving of a second opportunity and I wish him all the luck and success in the world.

So it looks like Trejo's will also be closing too. We will have to wait and see if Pepito is making a comeback and how soon it will happen.
