UPDATE: Pedestrian Dies After Being Hit By Shreveport Police Crui

UPDATE: A pedestrian struck by a Shreveport police cruiser early Thursday morning has died.

SPD issued this statement:

The SPD extends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased. We are committed to conducting a thorough and transparent investigation into this tragic incident. As per protocol, the officer involved in the crash was transported to Willis Knighton for routine procedural testing.

ORIGINAL STORY:

In the very early morning hours of Thursday (6/20/24) around 1am, a call came through the Shreveport Police Departments radio regarding an injured pedestrian.

Upon the arrivals of the first responders, it was learned that the pedestrian had been hit by an SPD vehicle on-duty. The victim was rushed to a local hospital with critical injuries.

This incident happened on East 70th Street near Line Avenue. Information on the case is sparse as it is still under investigation.
