Local, state, and federal officials are wrapping up an 18-month-long investigation that focused on individuals in this area who were charged with conspiracy and drug trafficking violations. They called it Operation "Weed Whacker."  Back in January, a Shreveport federal grand jury indicted 17 individuals believed involved in the conspiracy and organized distribution of more than five kilograms of cocaine and more than a-thousand kilograms of marijuana in northwest Louisiana, Texas, and Mississippi. Fifteen of the seventeen defendants have been arrested this week. Authorities are still looking for the other two. The U-S Attorney's Office says this case is one of the area's largest investigations into illegal drug trafficking.
