Our local homeless population gets a little help this week...with Operation Stand Down. Veterans Administration Homeless Program Coordinator Carolyn Green says it's a "one-stop shop" for the homeless. Folks can get much-needed help with things like clothing and food, haircuts and medical care, as well as help finding jobs. Green says more than 800 people showed up for last year's event...and many of them were women and children. The event runs from 1 to 5 tomorrow, and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday at Overton Brooks VA Medical Center.
